A RESTLESSLY PEACEFUL BALANCE

It surprises me, 

how quickly thoughts flash through my head, 

Faster than fleeting trees through the window of a speeding train, 

The velocity with which, 

they come and go, 

The troughs and crests of emotions they bring along with them.

How fear can distort reality, 

How powerfully it can grip you, 

And churn your insides, 

Then vanish as quickly as it came, 

as another thought takes its place, 

This one more liberating than before, 

Where you breathe a little free,  

as clarity floods your vision. 

We live in waves of fear and clarity,  

But if instead, 

we choose the security of certainty, 

We live in waves of loving,

and loving a little more;

In a restlessly peaceful balance, 

of making it happen, 

and letting it happen.
