HE DOESN'T LIKE ME ANYMORE (A TRUE STORY)
Sarah liked Zoe. A lot. And she had a feeling that Zoe liked her too.
But he hadn't said anything to her yet. And nor had she.
Sarah pondered. Zoe respected and admired her a lot. He told her she was outstanding, feisty, and very, very honest.
Sarah was reminded of how, back in high school, the most popular guy had told her exactly the same thing. And had made all other girls jealous of her.
Sarah had not been expecting that at all. She had been so stunned that she had literally daydreamed about him for weeks. Needless to say, all her intelligence, energy and drive in life had been sidetracked because Sarah was not a big guys-person but she had a very rich imagination. And she had to thus pay.
And that popular guy saw her grades fall, and saw her becoming quieter and more shy around him; and he couldn't figure out what had gotten into her. And all his interest in her faded away. This was not the girl he had feelings for.
Sarah shook the high school nightmare off her. She was NOT going to let the same thing happen again. She would NOT lose her focus this time. She was quick, sharp-tongued with a kind heart and she knew that. And this time, she would hold on to that. She would preserve that.
She would chase her dreams and her skills first, come hell or high water. No guy was going to get the better of her this time. Not even Zoe. This was an important period in her life and she'd meet a thousand guys like Zoe in the future. It was all hormones. And nothing else.
With fresh determination, Sarah deleted all of her past conversations with Zoe and got back to work.
Based on a true story.
