JACOB DOES NOT DESERVE ME (A TRUE STORY)

Jacob was attractive. Okay?

He was smart, funny, and really hard-working. 

And Camilla wanted to talk to him. 

She caught herself daydreaming about him. She remembered this one time when he had walked up to her in the hallway and asked her number. Camilla didn't know him back then and she was a proud girl.

"I'd like your number", Jacob had looked straight into her eyes with a smile. 

"Nah. You're sweet and I don't do sugar", she'd said.

Jacob's naturally-kind face had burst into laughter. He'd shaken his head and given her a boyish grin. She remembered he had leaned in a little closer to her and said, "Meat and dirt-eater here". And then he'd left. 

That had been months ago. He was now seeing someone else and Camilla had been disappointed that he hadn't tried harder. 

"He doesn't deserve me", she snapped herself back into reality. "Jacob does not deserve me". 

She thought about the girl he was currently dating. Camilla didn't think much of her. On the other hand, she seemed a little stupid. She was pretty, yes, but stupid. 

Camilla was a girl of strong opinions. And she rarely made a mistake. 

"Jacob does not deserve me", she repeated and got back to whatever she was doing.
