THE BIRTHDAY
It was her birthday today. But her friends were all far away and she didnt expect anybody to throw her a grand party.
She sat down and thought. What should she do?
Should see just let it be and go on about it as any other day?
Hell, no. She got up. She had a moral responsibility to celebrate herself, she thought. People she loved weren’t always going to be around on every birthday. She determinedly decided to make it special herself.
She made her own plans. She dressed up in as much red as she could. She put on the reddest shade of lipstick she had.
She stepped out. The day was fresh and amazing. She took the subway and went to one of her favourite restaurants. She ordered a salad, a tiramisu cake, chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and raised a toast to herself.
Then, she set out shopping. She went to pretty little shops and shopped pretty pink things. Pink notebooks, pink scented perfumes, pink makeup, anything she found attractive.
Then she bought a cake for herself. Bought thin, tall candles.
Then she went to the nearby karaoke. And sang her heart out. Singing and dancing were art. And she loved how expressive they were.
Then she went for a movie. Not once did she feel lonely, not once did she feel the need to have someone. She was having the time of her life and showering herself with all the love she could give.
The day wasn’t over. She would make this a birthday to remember.
